A beautiful, quiet and relaxed retreat from the city. Set in the Botanical Gardens, with modern facilities based on traditional Chinese architecture, with traditional coy ponds and a tea ceremony. The hotel was well presented, with very comfortable beds - the softest I've had in China.
A little more expensive (the restaurant) than what we are used to, but it was our wedding anniversary.
The Hotel is located in a Park, surrounded with water and the architecture Leans towards Pagode style. The hotel itself was very quit, the park however was full of life in the evening hours making it a joy to look at the Guilin locals having leisure activities. It has a clean pool. We had room 1301, 2nd floor wit a beautiful sight of the Guilin mountain panorama.
The bathroom was smelly.
- The place is lovely, in the middle of a park, with traditional-looking buildings and small bridges over water ponds. - The hotel provides a free airport pickup service.
- The breakfast was average.
The whole resort was very beautiful and very clean. The room was quite huge and comfortable. The dinner at the restaurant is good. The whole resort ist also very quiet; because it is located in a public park.
We´d never seen more unflexible employees than in this hotel. Don´t expect english; no one can speak it very well. A money- exchange board ist located at the concierge´s desk. But you can´t change money, because that is a service, the hotel is not able to offer to its guests (said by manager on duty!!!). Also, it was´nt possible fot the stuff, to order a taxi for us on our last day to bring us to the train station. At all: a very poor service for a hotel with a lot of foreign guests!!!
Beautiful buildings and rooms. Great tea service.
No bar serving a glass of wine!
Pictures wont do this place justice. The best hotel iv ever stayed in and the staff were excellent. Didn't want to leave. Made good friends with the hotel boss, she is a lovely person. Respect.
I didn't like the fact we had to leave lol
Beautiful hotel, located in a park, very nice landscape design, excellent rooms. Good connection to the airport, and close to the Guilin center at the same time. Sales Manager 刘博文 (Mac Lewis) was very helpful throughout the stay - many thanks him for taking care of us!
Amazing landscapes, very quiet hotel, good staff
Out of the town s center
Nice hotel rather than luxury, interesting setting in the park and with good clean rooms in a quiet setting. Had a deluxe room which had a small patio next to the fish pond which was nice to relax by. Airport pick up was on time, generally good standard of English. Location was good as it was easy to get out of town for the attractions. The walk through the park to get there will not be for everyone but I enjoyed and they do offer a buggy service for pick up. New hotel so still quiet which helps with service. Good rather than great, but considering the cost well worth considering
Breakfast was reasonably priced but not great, buffet was almost constantly cold and oily. We had several early starts so had it three times but wouldn't have through choice. trips organised by the hotel seemed expensive and were not good, several hidden extras, packed, old full coaches. Staff often seemed like they were on commissions rather than being helpful and the designated taxi driver for the hotel constantly tried to run off the meter.
Nice garden, nice rooms.
- Breakfast was not good and it is not worth it to take. - New furniture with a hard smell of new painted in the room.
The staff were extremely helpful.
The noise from the frogs, and the dining experience left much to be desired
Beautiful rooms in a park, swimming pool, the sphere in general, staff with the exception of reception
We were very impressed with the email communication we had had with Mac Lewis, the Sales Department Manager, who went to the trouble of taking and then sending us photos of the particular room he recommended. That was indeed the room we were allocated, with a balcony overlooking a section of the garden. We were very happy with it, the only negative being the state of the carpet, which was badly stained. We loved the beautiful gardens and Tang dynasty style architecture of the hotel. Being located within the botanical gardens, it all provided a welcome haven from the noisy streets. We also enjoyed the complimentary tea ceremony in the Tea House.
We did not find reception staff to be very welcoming. This was perhaps due to their lack of confidence in speaking English. As non Mandarin speaking visitors to China, we were certainly not arrogant enough to expect them to have fluent English, however a few smiles would go along way. Our greatest disappointment, however, was the restaurant food. On our first evening there, we were ushered into a private dining room due to a large function in process in the restaurant. The menu was very limited and unappealing, and the service overly attentive, with one of the restaurant staff 'stationed' in the room with just the four of us for the entirety of the meal. My husband and I decided to forego breakfast on both mornings of our stay, as the offerings simply did not appeal to us. On our 18 day trip through China, we had been used to generous buffet breakfasts, apart from those at our retreat near Yangshuo, where the menu was à la carte. Our friends, however, had breakfast each morning and were extremely disappointed, complaining about both the lack of choice and the poor quality of the meal. One of them has travelled extensively in China and always chooses a Chinese breakfast, but on their second morning at the Gui Lin Yi Royal Palace, he was informed he would have to have the American breakfast as the Chinese was not available!
Very quiet and peacefull in the middle of a beautiful park, still not far from the city. Small hotel, nice architecture with traditional houses within a garden
Level of English from the staff could be improved. Breakfast buffet could be improved.
